Who is Jay Shafer? Jay Shafer is the owner of Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, an architecture and construction business that designs and builds very small houses. These houses are very small, between 50 - 750 square feet. Jay Shafer named his compay after the first small house he built for himself in 1997. Shafer builds and designs small houses and ships them by truck to consumers. Most of the designs are mobile homes with build in wheels. Jay Shafer also helped establish the Small House Society.
